Fear is just a liar running out of breath

Fear is something we all face. It takes on different forms and presents itself in many ways in our lives. Just when I think I've overcome one fear another one presents itself. There's many fears and doubts I've overcome but there are many that rise up as life situations happen that I didn't even know were issues. Can anyone relate?

One fear I’ve faced for a long time is perfectionism. I didn't realize that perfectionism was a form of fear. I allowed it to rule in my life for way too long and always thought it was a strength until I came to know Christ. I realized I had to daily surrender my life in order to have the full life God provides and that God's strength is made perfect in my weakness. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 it says, "But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." and it also says in Matthew 16:25, "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it." When I realized those truths then I realized God is perfect and his grace covers our imperfections.

Come to me

Sometimes you don't realize how heavy something is until you sit it down for a minute. You don't realize how hard you are running until you pause to catch a breath. We often think we can do it all. We buy into the american myth of doing and having it all and if we don't then we're considered a failure.

This is a hard myth to overcome because the american lifestyle doesn't warrant for rest. Rest is often seen as a weakness rather than a gift so we all work hard and play hard, but never truly rest. Normally I stay pretty busy and I'm honestly not good at resting at all. Recently though, God has been teaching me rest. He's been teaching me to fully rely on him for everything and allow him his rightful place rather than me taking what he gives me to run the play myself.

Come Alive

I think there is something incredibly special about this generation. Every generation has a purpose and I believe the millennial generation serves a great purpose. While we often get a bad rap for seeming entitled and indecisive, I think that we are a generation of dreamers and world changers. Our generation strives to make a difference with every heart beat. We all want to leave an impact on this earth, which brings me to my own dreams. I want to see this generation change the world for God. There's a Lauren Daigle song called Come Alive (Dry Bones) that I love and it's based on the story in Ezekiel where God calls him to the valley of dry bones. As Ezekiel overlooks this valley of dry bones, God calls him to prophesy over them and bring them back to life through the power of God.

Do it Again

Have you ever walked through a season that you thought was going to be full of joy and turned out to be a season of disappointment? Yeah me too. I found it's often hard in those moments to recall God's character and my identity in him. Doubt floods my mind and I begin to question my purpose. I begin to place blame and ask why. But then I realized that during those times of disappointment if instead of blaming God I turn closer to him, my focus shifts. My focus begins to stay eternal instead of what's happening right now. I begin to see how he's leading me and that he really does have good plans for me.
