Come Alive

The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army. Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’
— Ezekiel 37:1-14

I think there is something incredibly special about this generation. Every generation has a purpose and I believe the millennial generation serves a great purpose. While we often get a bad rap for seeming entitled and indecisive, I think that we are a generation of dreamers and world changers. Our generation strives to make a difference with every heart beat. We all want to leave an impact on this earth, which brings me to my own dreams. I want to see this generation change the world for God. There's a Lauren Daigle song called Come Alive (Dry Bones) that I love and it's based on the story in Ezekiel where God calls him to the valley of dry bones. As Ezekiel overlooks this valley of dry bones, God calls him to prophesy over them and bring them back to life through the power of God.

I feel like this is such a picture of our world today. There are millions if not billions of dry bones across the globe who don't have the hope and breath of God in their lives. They don't know the love of our Savior and they don't have the joy of the Lord. I had a dream once of an arena filled with people and it was endless in the dark but as they each came to know God a light came on one after the other. Soon the entire arena was filled with light. I haven't forgotten that dream and I want to see it come alive one day. I want to see our generation impact the world in such a way that we all carry the light of God wherever we go. I want to see more people come to know the love of God than ever before. I want to see people come to know their purpose and calling on this earth and reach eternity.

We can do this together. We can all be the breath of God in our circles and make an impact where we are to change lives for God. We can all be dangerous for the kingdom of God and carry hope to others. So who's in your life that you can breath life into again? What can you do to make a difference and what's stopping you from doing it? I believe if we all fearlessly pursue the passions God has put on our hearts and be intentional with those around us, we will see the lights in others slowly come on as we share our own light. Let's see dry bones come alive!

Father, thank you for the light that you allow me to carry. Thank you for allowing me to be a pure empty vessel for you to breathe through to others. I pray that you will help us to go forth as a generation to impact the world for you and help us to bring your hope to the world. Help us to fully know the calling you've placed on us so that we can walk in it to reach our world. We give you all the glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
