Falling into You
Do you know that you are loved more than you'll ever know? That there is a love so deep and so great that our minds simply can't comprehend it? There's a relentless love available and it's freely given. This was something that was always hard for me to understand. Love is such a funny thing and our earthly version doesn't even compare to how our Heavenly Father loves us. It says in scripture that God is love (1 John 4:8). He doesn't just love us, but he himself is the very thing of love.
As I wrote this post I listened to Hillsong Young & Free's newly released acoustic album of Youth Revival. The song's are so inspiring about God's love so I hope you will check it out (listen here). They wrote a song called Falling into You and this song gives such a beautiful picture of God's love for us. It also gives a great example of how we should love God back. Giving him full control and falling into Him. It says, "No one's gonna love me like you do." then it says, "Jesus, I've found that you've always had me. Your love is never in doubt." and my favorite line is, "I wanna love you like you love me." That's my prayer daily to love God the way he loves me and to love people the way he loves them.
Love is such a mistaken concept because while it can be a feeling it's an action and a choice. When the feeling leaves, love can remain because it's so much more than a feeling if we can understand it's true sense. As I've been studying this, I've learned so many of the different ways God loves us. It's so vast of a subject that the list is endless and no single post could cover all of the love God has for us. However, I hope to at least give a peak behind the curtain to encourage you to want to seek his love. Our God wants so much for you and he loves you as you are, but he also loves you too much to leave you as you are in brokenness. He wants to heal your hurts and redeem your broken areas. His love for us is proven on the cross when he sent his only son to pay the price for our sins as a sacrifice (John 3:16). I'm so thankful for God's love and redeeming power.
I've been studying this lately to understand God's love for me and repair my view of love. I used to see God as this Zeus type of character who would strike me down any time I did something wrong. But after coming back to God several years ago, I began to learn about his true character and love for us. I think the best example for us to follow on how to love is the scripture 1 Corinthians 13:3-8 that is often read in weddings. It's the example of what love is and how to love. I want to love more like this and I hope you will join me.
"If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:3-8
I hope this week you will study God's love with me by downloading my free printable download with a list of some of the ways God loves us. You can print it out and put it on your desk or somewhere you will see it daily. After studying that list, I hope you will see love in a new way and put into action loving God and other's with that in mind.
