His Best

I have been told an endless amount of times to take it to God. The general response from most people in my life is to pray about it, whatever “it” may be. Countless times I have given what I want to God only to see the request delayed if not rejected. It is hard when you want something so desperately to give it over. It’s hard when you think it is God’s best for you and it seems like God is not letting you have it. But what is harder is to look back and realize you traded His “best” for your “good’ or your “okay.” What is hard is when you realize the whole time you were chasing something in this world, God was chasing you.

If we get so caught up in receiving the rewards that come with being a child of God, we will miss out on the relationship we are free to have with Him. When our desire for what He can give outweighs our desire to know Him we fall into a dangerous trap of being unfulfilled and having bitterness towards the one who already gave us everything. It is a trap that can be hard to come out of at times. God is not trying to earn a relationship with us by giving us His best, He gives us His best because of the relationship we already have with Him. God doesn’t have to earn it because He simply deserves it. We’re the ones who don’t deserve it and yet we don’t have to earn a relationship with God, we were given it through the cross.

Don’t quit praying for what you want. Don’t quit taking it to God. But realize God gave His best, His everything, when He went on the cross. He gave it to me and you. No one in this world is exempt from God’s best and no one is waiting around to receive it. It has already been given.
